New Delhi, Dec 30: In 2025, India’s space sector experienced significant growth driven by policy continuity, public-private partnerships, and reforms that led to tangible outcomes in satellite manufacturing and launch services, as stated by Lt. Gen. AK Bhatt (Retd.), Director General of the Indian Space Association.
The country’s space economy, valued at around $9 billion, is projected to hit $44 billion over the next decade. Notable developments included the awarding of contracts, operational readiness of launch vehicles, and a rise in active space startups, which exceeded 300.
The year saw achievements such as Skyroot’s Vikram-I launch vehicle and Pixxel’s deployment of the Firefly satellite constellation. Legislative support, funding initiatives, and a streamlined authorisation framework bolstered private sector involvement, with startups raising nearly $150 million, contributing to a cumulative total of over $617 million. Overall, India’s share of the global space economy is expected to grow from 2% to nearly 8% by 2033.
