New Delhi, Dec 26: As of December 1, 2025, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has reached 10.35 crore beneficiaries, promoting access to clean cooking fuel.
A targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for up to nine refills annually has led to increased LPG consumption, averaging about 4.85 refills per capita for FY 2025-26.
To enhance assistance, the government approved 25 lakh additional connections for FY 2025-26, improving subsidy targeting through Aadhaar authentication. Consumer safety was emphasized via a ‘Basic Safety Check’ campaign, conducting over 12.12 crore inspections.
The initiative also advanced petroleum marketing infrastructure with over 90,000 retail outlets adopting digital payments. The electric mobility sector expanded, with 8,932 EV charging stations installed under the FAME-II scheme. Additionally, the operational natural gas pipeline length grew to 25,429 km, with city gas distribution reaching 307 areas.
Under the SATAT initiative, over 130 compressed biogas plants have been commissioned. Ethanol blending in petrol reached 19.24%, contributing to foreign exchange savings and carbon emissions reduction.
The upstream sector saw investments of around $4.36 billion through the Hydrocarbon Exploration Licensing Policy. Overall, these advancements represent significant progress in energy access, affordability, and sustainability in 2025.
