New Delhi, Dec 24: The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a Rs 12,015 crore project for the expansion of Delhi Metro Phase V (A), which will introduce 13 new stations across three corridors totaling 16 km.
These corridors include R.K Ashram Marg to Indraprastha (9.913 km), Aerocity to IGD Airport T-1 (2.263 km), and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj (3.9 km). The project aims to enhance connectivity in the national capital, benefiting approximately 60,000 office goers and 200,000 visitors daily, while also reducing pollution by saving around 33,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The expansion is expected to improve last-mile connectivity, alleviate congestion, and augment the Delhi Metro network, which will exceed 400 km upon completion. The project is set to be finished in the next three years, with 10 of the 13 new stations being underground.
