New Delhi, Dec 24: Legally binding commitments on professional services through free trade agreements (FTAs) could unlock global markets for Indian services, emphasized Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal.

He highlighted the significance of stakeholder collaboration and domestic reforms to enhance services trade, vital for India’s economic growth. India’s demographic advantage positions it well to meet global demand, necessitating updated skills and practices.

The Chintan Shivir allowed professional bodies to share best practices and reconsider existing regulations to align with technological advancements. Acknowledgment of the Indian Nursing Council’s efforts and discussions on Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) were also key, focusing on future-proofing digital service delivery and mobility regulations.
