New Delhi, Dec 20: A total of 38 railway projects costing Rs 89,780 crore have been sanctioned in Maharashtra, encompassing 11 new lines, 2 gauge conversions, and 25 doubling projects spanning 5,098 kms.
Additionally, 98 surveys for further expansion have been approved over the last three fiscal years. The High-Speed Bullet Train project’s land acquisition is complete, with construction on vital infrastructure underway.
The Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) has also received significant funding to enhance passenger capacity. The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) is also progressing, with part of it already commissioned, expected to improve cargo transport capabilities from port to Delhi NCR.
