New Delhi, Dec 04: India has become the world’s third-largest solar energy generator, surpassing Japan, as it progresses towards its goal of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
By June 2025, India reached 235.7 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity, including 226.9 GW from renewables. To support this growth, the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) was launched to connect various renewable sources to the national grid, creating about 9,700 circuit kilometres of transmission lines.
Advanced technologies are being implemented to manage energy variability, including flexible AC systems and AI-powered forecasting tools, while energy storage solutions like battery systems are becoming essential as more consumers engage in two-way energy trading.
