New Delhi, Sep 16 Indian Railways will mandate Aadhaar authentication for online booking of general reserved tickets during the first 15 minutes after reservations open, starting October 1.
This measure aims to curb misuse and prioritize genuine passengers by allowing only Aadhaar-authenticated users on the IRCTC website or app to book during this crucial window. The rule does not affect PRS counter timings or the existing 10-minute restriction for authorized agents.
This policy is part of broader reforms including earlier reservation chart preparation and upgrades to the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) to enhance ticketing transparency and efficiency.
