New Delhi, Nov 28: Develop Legal environment and encourage juvenile justice – appealed Justice Anil BheemsenKatti, Retired Judge of Karnataka High Courtwhile speaking as Chief Guest during Constitution Day Celebration at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd.
MRPL Legal Department organized a full day program to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution on 26th November 2024 at the Training Centre, Mangaluru. Nandakumar V Pillai, Director Refinery presided over the programme. Ganesh S Bhat, IFS, CVO, GGMs, other senior officers and employees in large numbers participated in the programme.
Krishna HegdeMiyar, GGM HR welcomed the gathering and Preamble of the Constitution was read in Kannada, Hindi & English during the programme.
Nandakumar V Pillai, Director Refinery spoke on the occasion said thatArticles 14, 19 and 21 of the Indian Constitution are known as the ‘golden triangle’ because they are fundamental rights that are considered the cornerstone of the country’s constitutional framework. He emphasised how the civic sense and democratic principles inherent in this nation contributes to the smooth functioning of the Constitutional values.
Al RafeeqMoideen, CGM – Legal spoke on significance of the Constitution day and recollected one of the judgments given by Justice Katti, where he handed over the custody of the Juvenile offender in the hands of his mother. He also reminded the audience that the day is also celebrated as the ‘National Law Day’.
Satish Satyanarayana, GM – Materials introduced the Chief Guest Justice Anil BheemsenKatti who retired on attaining superannuation from the High Court of Karnataka on 17.04.2024.
Justice Anil BheemsenKatti expressed that Reading of the Preamble should be made a practice among children, that’s how we would realise the struggle of our freedom fighters & Constitution framers. Legal environment should be developed and juvenile justice should be ensured. Make it a practice to resolve Commercial disputes through an Arbitratoras no one willingly defaults any clause, Justice opined. Prizes were distributed to the winners in Quiz competitions.
