SCINTILLATING SEVENTH DAY OF THE NEYVELI BOOK FAIR 2024

New Delhi, July 12: Today, 11.07.24, the Book Fair entered its scintillating seventh day with a steady footfall of visitors. Nearly 15000 students belonging to schools and colleges from near and far visited the Book Fair. The Book Fair continues to draw a large number of the public which is a healthy sign for a community that aspires to equip themselves with knowledge and lead the country to the next level.

The function at Lignite Hall was held in the evening.

The Chief Guest of the function was R. Siddharthan, Additional Director, Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Trichy. Ashok Dattatraya Keote, Executive Director, SME & Conveyor, NLCIL, presided over the function 

While K. Amsapriya was honoured as the “Best Writer”, M/s. Pustaka Digital Media, Chennai was honoured as the “Best Publisher”. A book “Nedunjaalai Maram” written by P. Govindarasu was released during the function.

Speaking on the occasion, R. Siddharthan, said that these days, we have forgotten to read. After visiting the Neyveli Book Fair, the interest to read has increased. He said that, after reading a poem written by Amsapriya, who was honoured today as the “Best Writer”, he remembered his school days. He also gave a brief account of certain books he had read recently. He recalled a book named “Secret” which explains how we can attain what we want if we really make the required efforts. He also talked about the book “Vaazhvin Sinthanaigal” by K. Veeramani which teaches us how we should not brood over any negative issues but face it boldly. He also talked of the story of Veedhi-Vidangan, son of Manu Needhi Cholan. All these stories teach us a valuable lesson in life, he said.

Delivering the Presidential Address, Ashok Dattatraya Keote, Executive Director, said that in the past, it was difficult to find books to read. But now, it was easy to find books in the digital age. But still, physical books are good to read and acquire knowledge than digital books, he said.

A colourful dance concert was provided by students of Anna Varghese while a Bharatanatyam dance recital was performed by students of Suchitra’s team Rudra Natyalaya, Neyveli.
