New Delhi 14.11.2023 : On 14.11.2023 at about 0456 hrs, on the basis of behaviour detection, CISF surveillance and intelligence staff of Terminal-3, IGI Delhi noticed suspicious activities of a visitor at arrival forecourt area. On strong suspicion he was kept under observation by physical and electronics means. The visitor was later identified as Mr Rajesh Takhar.
Later at about 0614 hrs, it was observed that the visitor met with an international passenger later identified as Mr Mahendra (Indian) arrived from Doha by Air India Flight No. 972 (STA 0440 hrs) and both proceeded towards city side washroom area located at arrival pillar no. 18. At about 0627 hrs the said arrival passenger and visitor exited from the washroom.
On strong suspicion of involvement in Gold smuggling, both, the passenger and the visitor were intercepted by surveillance and intelligence staff of CISF. They were brought to the Customs office for further interrogation, where a joint interrogation was carried out by CISF and Customs officials. Later, the passenger accepted that they were involved in gold smuggling and he was carrying 04 egg shaped yellow metal (appearing to be gold) in paste form. Later, the passenger and the visitor alongwith recovered 04 eggs shaped yellow metal (appearing to be gold) in paste form weighing approx 1.065 kg were handed over to Custom officials for further action in the matter.
