New Delhi, June 28: The International Day against Drug abuse was observed in Neyveli on 26th June, 2023.
The United Nations decided to observe 26th June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an International society free of drug abuse.
NLCIL has always raised its voice against social evils by creating awareness among the youth and vulnerable sections about the ill effects caused by these social evils. As part of this, NLCIL took the lead in observing the International Day against drug abuse yesterday.
To mark the observance of the day,about 200 students participated in the “Awareness Rally” against drug abuseorganized jointly by the NLCIL General Hospital and Education department. The rally was flagged off by Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL andNeyveli DSP Raj Kumar.
Dr. Sukumar, Dy. General Superintendent, Medical, .Nagarajan, General Manager, Education &Dr.Vijayakumari, Psychiatrist, NLC India Hospital were present during the occasion. The rally started from NLCIL Central Library and ended at Mahatma Gandhi Statue, Main Bazar of Neyveli Township. Students raised slogans and held placards with slogans against drug abuse during the rally. By creating awareness among the students through such initiatives every year, NLCIL hopes to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world, free of drug abuse.
