NLCIL has upheld its responsibility to conserve natural resources and protect natural ecosystems to support health and wellbeing, now and in the future. The World Environment Day was another opportunity to emphasise this commitment.
NLCIL, celebrated the “World Environment Day” on 5th June 2023 on the Theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” with great enthusiasm.

Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, participated in a series of events held on the day.The events were also attended by Senior Officials of NLCIL & Executives, representatives of recognized trade unions and welfare associations, employees, teachers and members of the general public.

Green Tour
On the occasion of World Environment Day, on 05.06.2023, on behalf of the Department of Education and Sports, a field Visit called “Green Tour” was organized for students of Neyveli to create awareness about environmental protection. The Green Trip was flagged off by Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli at the Neyveli Arch Gate. Students from Neyveli schools were sent for this tour in three buses. The students visited fields of paddy, sugarcane, groundnut and cashew and coconut groves situated nearby.
Special Lecture
Later in the evening, a special lecture on environment for students was given by Dr. S. Duraisamy, Professor of the Vridhachalam Agricultural Science Station, arranged in association with the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University – Indian Institute of Agriculture.
Visit to Ananda Illam
Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, visited the Ananda Illam, the home for the elderly, which is functioning under the organization ‘Helpage India’, on behalf of NLC India. The CMD interacted with the inmates of the Home. During this visit, the CMD planted saplings in the campus on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Seminar on “Solution to Plastic Pollution”
Another event organized by the Department of Corporate Environment at the NLCIL Learning and Development Centre was a seminar on ‘Sustainable Resources and Material Integration to Reduce Plastic Use’ conducted by Shri R. Saravanan, Director and Professor, University of Puducherry, on the theme “Solution to Plastic Pollution”. Ms. Rani Alli, Executive Director, Environment Department, NLC India, and other senior officials were present.
