Northern Railway Breaches Significant Barriers InPassenger, Parcel And Other Coaching Earnings In The Month Of May-2023

∙ Earns Rs. 987.38 Cr. in passenger earning,
∙ Rs. 104.29 Cr. in other coaching,
∙ Rs.566.50 Cr. in Goods and
∙ Achieves an originating freight loading of 09.68 million tonnes

New Delhi, June 01 : Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager Northern Railway informed that despite the various constraints and challenges, Northern Railway has achieved milestones in freight loading, Passenger, Parcel, and other Coaching Earnings during the month of May-2023 in the current Financial Year 2023-24.
Highlights of Northern Railways achievements in the month of May-2023 are mentioned below:
Freight loading
Achieves an originating freight loading of 09.68 million tonne (Growth was achieved in Fertilizer- 5.24 %, Cement – 15.48 %), POL – 10.27 %).

During May 2023, loaded 2099 wagons (0.14 MT) with earnings Rs.14.35 Cr. which is the highest ever wagons loading in a month. This was possible mainly on account of good efforts done by BDU (Business Development Units) of the Railway.
Achieved unloading of 11.69 MT against 11.58 MT of last year May-2022 with an improvement of 0.95 %.

Northern Railway ran 710 Long hauls trains against 604 in May2022, an improvement of 17.55 %.

Passenger Earnings

With an increase of 11.71 %, Northern Railway earned Rs. 987.38 cr. in passenger earnings in the month of May-2023. In May2022, it was 883.87 Cr.

Earned Rs. 104.29 Cr. in other coaching, Rs.566.50 Cr. in Goods and Rs. 41.37 Cr. in Sundry earnings.

Ticket Checking

As a result of one-month long special ticket checking drive over Northern Railway in May 2023, crossed the threshold of Rs. 26 Cr. which is 21 % higher than the corresponding period.

Passenger Marketing

During the month of May 2023, 87 Additional reserved summer special trains originated from Northern railway, generating additional revenue of Rs. 9.23 Cr. In addition to this, 31 unreserved round trips of summer special trains on Kalka – Shimla were operated.

During the month of May2023, 165 additional coaches were augmented in NR trains, generating additional revenue of Rs. 01.24 Cr. approximately.
