New Delhi, April 8 Rural Development Minister Birender Singh met Mauritius Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth and discussed with him various issues, including India’s rural employment guarantee scheme.
Birender Singh met Jugnauth during his visit to Mauritius to attend the 18th African-Asian Rural Development Organization conference.
He spoke about the unique and historic relationship between India and Mauritius and hoped that the decisions taken during the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mauritius will be implemented effectively, an official release said here.
The minister also discussed the various rural development programmes of India like MGNREGA, skill development for youth, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna for better rural connectivity and provisions of urban amenities in rural areas.
Birender Singh also met Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Housing and Lands Showkutally Soodhun and reiterated India’s commitment to strengthen cooperation in rural development between the two countries.
