PM Flags off the second Vande Bharat Express Train between Varanasi and New Delhi (Regular service commences from 20. 12.2023)

New Delhi, Dec 19:  The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi flagged off the second Vande Bharat express train to run between Banaras and New Delhi through video conferencing today.

The first Vande Bharat Express between Varanasi and Delhi started service in February 2019. Vande Bharat Express is an all-air-conditioned chair car service. Regular

 service of the 22415/22416 New Delhi-Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat express train will commence from 20.12.2023 from both directions. The 22415 Banaras-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express train will depart from Banaras at 06.00 a.m. to arrive at New Delhi at 02.05 p.m. the same day. In the return direction the 22416 New Delhi-Banaras Vande Bharat express train will depart from New Delhi at 03.00 p.m. to arrive at Banaras at 11.05 p.m. the same day. The 22415/22416 will halt at Prayagraj and Kanpur Central stations enroute in both the directions. It will run six days in a week except Tuesday. The train will have 16 coaches – 14 Chair Cars and 2 Executive Chair Cars.  

This 2nd Vande Bharat train on the Varanasi-Delhi route will also have multiple new features. The train has superior passenger amenities such as onboard Wi-Fi infotainment, GPS-based passenger information system, plush interiors, bio-vacuum toilets with touch-free conveniences, diffused LED lighting, charging points beneath every seat, individual touch-based reading lights and concealed roller blinds. Additionally, it also has “better heat ventilation and air-conditioning system with UV lamp for germ-free supply of air. The intelligent air-conditioning system adjusts the cooling according to the climate conditions/occupancy.

The main difference between the new Vande Bharat Express service being launched today and the one already running on the route is that the new one will originate from Banaras in the morning instead of Delhi. Hence, it will help cater to demand from a different set of passengers, those looking to reach Delhi, Prayagraj or Kanpur from Varanasi in the Morning
