OIL organises cycle rally at Duliajan as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Duliajan, 11 January, 2022: Oil India organised a cycle rally today at Nehru Maidan, Duliajan as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate country’s 75th year of independence. The cycle rally was organised to spread awareness about reducing fuel consumption and conserve energy.

Messages to save oil were carried as placards by the cyclists and mobile public address system to spread awareness about benefits of cycling and reduction of oil consumption were carried out in the entire route of the rally.

RameswarTeli, Minister of State, Petroleum & Natural Gas and Labour &Employment, Govt. of India along with Terash Gowalla, MLA, Duliajan participated in the cycle rally flagged off by Prasanta, Borkakoty, RCE, OIL. The rally began at the Nehru Maidan in Duliajan and proceeded through the roads unto South Bank at Naharkatiya and back at Nehru Maidan.

The rally attracted a significant number of around 300 cyclists of all ages which included school children, CISF jawans, members of various cycling clubs, Oilindians and other enthusiasts from the township of Duliajan. Manas Kumar Sharma, ED (Basin Manager-Shelf), Atindra Roychoudhury, ED (PS) and other senior officials of OIL were also present during the occasion.

After the rally, two veteran cyclists Mr Bhupen Likson age 58 and Ms Jumi Mahanta, age 52 who also participated in the approximate 20 Kms rally were felicitated by Teli, Minister of State, P&G and L&E. The veteran cyclists were an inspiration for the budding cycling enthusiasts who took part in the rally.

While addressing the cyclists, Teli reiterated the importance of cycling in daily lives which apart from keeping us fit and healthy also plays a significant role in reducing fuel consumption. He urged the cyclists to keep cycling and inspire others to cycle too. In his address, Borkakoty, RCE OIL thanked all cyclists for participating in large numbers and showing enthusiasm to spread awareness about conservation of Oil. The event ended with vote of thanks and a group photograph of the cyclists with the Hon’ble Minister.
