New Delhi, July 27: NTPC Bongaigaon welcomed Derhasat Basumatary, Hon’ble Executive Member for Health & Family Welfare, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), to its Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) Centre, where he commended the power station’s commitment to girl child empowerment through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. During his visit, Basumatary interacted with the 50 participants of GEM 2026, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with confidence, determination and dedication. He appreciated the programme’s residential facilities, supportive learning environment and holistic approach to nurturing young girls through education and personal development.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, Basumatary said programmes like Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) play a vital role in developing confident, educated and empowered young citizens. He praised NTPC Bongaigaon for its continued contribution to the socio-economic development of the region by creating opportunities for girls through quality education, life skills training, health awareness, sports activities and personality development. The initiative reflects NTPC’s commitment to promoting inclusive growth while equipping young girls with the skills and confidence needed to build successful futures.

As part of the visit, Basumatary distributed educational kits and mosquito nets to the participants and conveyed his best wishes for their academic success and personal growth. He was accompanied by Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), Amit Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR), Roshan Dungdung, AGM (HR), and officials from the HR and CSR Departments, who briefed him on the various activities and training modules being conducted under GEM 2026. The interaction highlighted the programme’s focus on providing a safe, nurturing and enriching environment for young girls.
