New Delhi, June 22: NLC India Limited (NLCIL) marked the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with grand celebrations at Bharathi Stadium, Neyveli, bringing together approximately 8,000 participants in a vibrant display of unity, wellness and community engagement. The event reflected the organization’s continued commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and holistic well-being among employees, students and the wider community.

Organized in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the guidance of Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy and Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey, the event showcased the growing popularity of Yoga as a powerful tool for physical, mental and emotional wellness.

The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighted the role of Yoga in enhancing physical vitality, mental clarity and emotional resilience across all age groups. The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from NLC India employees, senior officials, trade union representatives, welfare organizations, contract workers, Yoga practitioners, stakeholders, members of the public and nearly 7,500 students from schools across Neyveli.

Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLC India Limited, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. In his speech, he underscored the importance of integrating Yoga into everyday life, describing it as a holistic practice that nurtures the body, mind and spirit. He emphasized that Yoga extends beyond physical exercise and serves as a pathway to inner harmony, improved health and societal well-being.

The event was also attended by Samir Swarup, Director (HR), R. P. S. Sisodia, Director (Projects & Planning) and Director (Power) – Additional Charge, senior executives of NLC India Limited, the CISF Commandant and other dignitaries who actively participated in the Yoga session.

A major attraction of the programme was the demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Expert Yoga instructors guided participants through a series of Yoga postures, breathing exercises and wellness practices designed to improve flexibility, concentration and overall health. The collective participation reflected increasing awareness of Yoga’s benefits in maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Earlier, B. Vaidyanathan, Chief General Manager (Township Administration), welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Yoga in enhancing physical fitness, mental wellness, emotional stability and quality of life. He encouraged participants to adopt Yoga as a regular practice to promote long-term health and well-being.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Deputy General Manager (Education, Sports & Culture), who expressed appreciation to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, volunteers, educational institutions, Yoga organizations and participants for contributing to the success of the event.
