In a significant development NHPC, India’s premier hydropower utility has been appointed as “Aggregator” under Pilot Scheme–II notified by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India on 30.01.2019 for procurement of aggregated Power of 2500 MW for 03 years (covered under Medium term) through PFC Consultancy Limited (PFCCL)– the Nodal Agency.
NHPC Limited is India’s premier hydropower company. NHPC’s total installed capacity is 7071.2 MW and it operates 24 power stations including JV, Solar and Wind. Gist of some of the major achievements is given below:
NHPC appointed as “Aggregator” under Pilot Scheme–II notified by Ministry of Power, Govt. of India on 30.01.2019 for procurement of aggregated Power of 2500 MW for 03 years (covered under Medium term) through PFC Consultancy Limited (PFCCL)– the Nodal Agency.
- Ministry of Power, Govt. of India issued notification for Pilot Scheme-II on 30.01.2019 for procurement of 2500MW aggregated power for 03 years through PFC Consultancy Limited as Nodal Agency. The scheme facilitates procurement of aggregated power from the generating companies with already commissioned coal based Power Plants but not having a Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs).
- PFCCL floated tender for appointment of “Aggregator” under scheme on 21.02.2019. NHPC participated in tendering process and declared successful bidder. PFCCL has issued Letter of Award (LOA) for appointment of NHPC as “Aggregator” for the Pilot Scheme –II.
- The Aggregator will sign an Agreement for Procurement of Power under Pilot Scheme –II (APPP-II) with the Successful Bidder(s) and back to back Power Supply Agreement under Pilot Scheme –II (PSAP-II) with Distribution Licensee(s)/Utilities.
- The above scheme shall involve transaction of electricity of around 18615 MUs at 85% PLF of 2500 MW and turnover of more than of Rs 7000 crores (approx.) on yearly basis. NHPC shall receive Trading Margin from Distribution Licensee(s)/Utilities under Pilot Scheme-II for providing services of “Aggregator” between Generator & Buyer/Utilities as Trader.
CCEA nod for acquisition of Lanco’s Teesta VI HE Project (500 MW)
- Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 7th March 2019 has approved proposal for acquisition of M/s Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Ltd (LTHPL) and execution of balance work of the Teesta Stage-VI HE Project by NHPC in Sikkim.
- The investment sanction is at an estimated cost of Rs 5748.04 crore (Jul’18 PL). This includes Bid amount of Rs 907 crore for acquisition of LTHPL, estimated cost of balance work of Rs. 3863.95 crore and IDC & FC of Rs. 977.09 crore.
- The Project is a Run of River (RoR) Scheme. It consists of a 26.5 m high Barrage across River Teesta; Two nos Horse Shoe shape Head Race Tunnels of 9.8 m dia of 13.76 km length; an underground Power House having 4 no Units of 125 MW each. The project would generate 2400 MUs in a 90% dependable year with Installed Capacity of 500 MW (4×125 MW). The project shall be completed in 5 years’ time.
- By taking up this project, this sink cost will be utilized and this investment till now will also be used for generation of energy. Further, the bid amount will be used to discharge the liability of banks and financial institutions etc.
- The project shall help in meeting peaking demand of energy; balancing & ramping requirement of the grid and shall accelerate process of development of Sikkim State.
Kiru HE Project (624 MW) of M/s CVPPPL (JV of NHPC Limited, JKSPDC and PTC) cleared by CCEA.
- CCEA on 7th March 2019 accorded investment sanction for construction of Kiru HE Project (624 MW) by M/s Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited (M/s CVPPPL). M/s CVPPPL, is a joint venture company amongst NHPC, JKSPDC and PTC with equity shareholding of 49%, 49% and 2% respectively.
- The estimated cost of the Project is Rs. 4287.59 crore (at July.2018 price level) which includes IDC & FC of Rs. 426.16 crore. NHPC shall infuse an equity of Rs 630.28 crore in M/s CVPPPL, for construction of Kiru HE Project (624 MW).
- Kiru HE Project is a Run of River (RoR) Scheme on River Chenab in Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir. It envisages construction of a 135 m high concrete gravity Dam, an underground Power House with installed capacity of 624 MW (4 x 156 MW). The Project would generate 2272.02 MU in a 90% dependable year.
- Government of Jammu and Kashmir (GoJK) has granted exemption to project on levy of toll tax, State Goods and Service Tax (SGST). Further waiver of free power in a decremental manner and water usage charges for a period of 10 years from the date of commercial operation has also been accorded by Govt. of J&K.
- The project shall provide much needed power in northern grid. The Project is scheduled to be completed in a period of 4 ½ years.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed for execution of 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project (Jammu & Kashmir)
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by NHPC Limited with Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Department (JKPDD) and J&K State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) for execution of 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project (Jammu & Kashmir) on 2nd February 2019.
- Ratle Hydroelectric Project is a run-off-river/pondage scheme on Chenab River. The project is covered under the Indus Water Treaty 1960 between India & Pakistan. The project will have an installed capacity of 850 MW (4×205 MW + 1×30 MW) and is designed to generate 3136.80 Million Units in a 90% dependable year. The expected completion cost of the project is Rs 6215.61 crore (Nov’18 PL).
Heading for Record Generation
- The cumulative generation from all power stations for the current FY stands at 23057 MUs and shall surpass previous record of 23404 MUs.
Interim dividend of Rs. 0.71 per equity share for FY 2018-19
- NHPC declared interim dividend of Rs. 0.71 per equity share paid an interim dividend for current FY. Total interim pay-out for the financial year 2018-19 is Rs 713.20 crore.
- NHPC had paid total dividend of Rs. 1436.31 crore @ Rs. 1.40 per share for the financial year 2017-18.
MOUs with leading Technical universities
- NHPC inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for ‘Establishing NHPC Chair Professorship at IIT Roorkee’ and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for R&D collaboration on 26.12.2018 with IIT Roorkee.
- An Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU) to facilitate cooperation in research & education of hydropower.
Other achievements
- 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo Power station was connected with Northern Grid. The power station can now run at full capacity.
- Tunneling Association of India conferred “TAI Tunneling Project of the year award” for execution of tunneling works in Kishanganga Hydroelectric Project in Jammu & Kashmir.
- NHPC was conferred with ‘Best Performing Utility in Hydropower Sector’ at CBIP Awards 2018.

एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम के अंतर्गत भारत सरकार द्वारा 30.01.2019 -को अधिसूचित पायलट योजना-II के तहत पीसीसी कंसल्टेंसी लिमिटेड (PFCCL) – नोडल एजेंसी केमाध्यम से 03 वर्ष ( मध्यम अवधि के अंतर्गत) के लिए 2500 मेगावाट की कुल बिजली की खरीद के लिए एनएचपीसी की “एग्रीगेटर” के रूप में नियुक्ति की गई है।

- ऊर्जा मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार ने नोडल एजेंसी के रूप में पीएफ़सी कंसल्टेंसी लिमिटेड के माध्यम से 03 साल (मध्यम अवधि के अंतर्गत ) के लिए 2500 MW कुल बिजली की खरीद के लिए दिनांक 30.01.2019 पायलट योजना- II जारी की है।
- यह योजना कोयला आधारित पावर प्लांटों को पहले से चालू और बिना पावर परचेज एग्रीमेंट (पीपीए) वाली जेनरेटिंग कंपनियों से बिजली की खरीद की सुविधा को लेकर है।
- दिनांक 21.02.2019 को योजना के तहत “एग्रीगेटर” की नियुक्ति के लिए PFCCL द्वारा निविदा जारी की गई थी। NHPC ने निविदा प्रक्रिया में भाग लिया और सफल बोलीदाता बन गए।
- पीएफसीसीएल के पत्र संख्या पीएफसीसीएल / एनए / 18-19 / पीएस- II दिनांक 07.03.2019 ने एनएचपीसी को पायलट योजना के लिए “एग्रीगेटर” के रूप में नियुक्त करने के लिए लेटर ऑफ अवार्ड (एलओए) जारी किया है।
- एग्रीगेटर सफल बोलीदाता के साथ पायलट स्कीम -II (APPP-II) के तहत बिजली की खरीद के लिए एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर करेगा और वितरण लाइसेंसधारी(Discom) के तहत पायलट स्कीम- II (PSAP-II) के तहत पावर सप्लाई समझौता वापस करेगा।
- उपरोक्त योजना में 2500 मेगावाट के 85% PLF पर 18615 MU की बिजली का लेनदेन और सालाना आधार पर रूपेय 7000 करोड़ (लगभग) से अधिक का कारोबार होगा। एनएचपीसी ट्रेडर के रूप में जनरेटर और क्रेता / यूटिलिटीज के बीच “एग्रीगेटर” की सेवाएं प्रदान करने के लिए पायलट स्कीम- II के तहत वितरण लाइसेंसधारी (यू) / यूटिलिटीज से ट्रेडिंग मार्जिन प्राप्त करेगा।

मेसर्स लैंको के 500 मेगावाट तीस्ता हाइड्रो पावर लिमिटेड के अधिग्रहण में आर्थिक मामलों पर कैबिनेट समिति की मंजूरी
- आर्थिक मामलों पर कैबिनेट समिति ने 07 मार्च 2019 को मेसर्स लैंको तीस्ता हाइड्रो पावर लिमिटेड (एलटीएचपीएल) के अधिग्रहण एवं सिक्किम मेंएनएचपीसी लिमिटेड द्वारा तीस्ता चरण- VI जल विद्युत परियोजना के शेष कार्य का निष्पादन करने के प्रस्ताव को अनुमोदन कर दिया है।
- इसके निवेश की मंजूरी 5748.04 करोड़ रूपए (जुलाई 18 के मूल्य स्तर पर) की अनुमानित लागत पर दी गई है। इसमें एलटीएचपीएल के अधिग्रहणके लिए 907 करोड़ रूपए की बोली राशि, 3863.95 करोड़ रूपए के शेष कार्य की अनुमानित लागत और 977.09 करोड़ रूपए की आईडीसी औरएफसी शामिल है।
- तीस्ता चरण- VI जलविद्युत परियोजना नीचे की ओर बहते पानी से तीस्ता नदी बेसिन की विद्युत क्षमता का उपयोग करने के लिए सिक्किम केसिरवानी गांव में रन ऑफ रिवर (आरओआर) योजना है।
