Narendra Modi’s Varanasi Visit Highlights Women Power

Varanasi, April 28: Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi for a two-day visit, where he is set to launch a major development push and participate in a large women-centric outreach programme.

The Prime Minister received a grand welcome at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

A key highlight of the visit is the ‘Jan-Aakrosh Mahila Sammelan’ at BLW Ground, expected to witness participation from thousands of women. The event is being entirely managed by women—from anchoring to security—underscoring a strong emphasis on women-led leadership and empowerment.

Earlier, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham, accompanied by senior leaders.

During the visit, Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 163 projects worth ₹6,332 crore. This includes the inauguration of 50 projects valued at ₹1,054 crore and the launch of 113 new projects worth ₹5,277 crore. The initiatives span road infrastructure, railway overbridges, healthcare, education, water supply, sanitation, green energy, and urban development, aimed at boosting growth in the Purvanchal region.

In addition, he will transfer ₹105 crore as bonus payments to milk producers associated with Amul.

Rail connectivity will also receive a boost, with the flagging off of two Amrit Bharat Express trains—one connecting Banaras to Pune (Hadapsar) and another linking Ayodhya to Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus).

This marks Modi’s 54th visit to his parliamentary constituency and his first in 2026, reflecting a dual focus on accelerating regional development and strengthening women’s participation in public life.
