MEA Asks Foreign Nationals in India to Contact FRRO for Visa Help Amid West Asia Crisis

New Delhi, Mar 01 As tensions continue to rise in West Asia, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday reached out to foreign nationals currently in India whose travel plans have been disrupted.

In a fresh advisory, the MEA asked those facing visa-related issues due to cancelled or rescheduled flights to contact their nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for help with extending or regularising their stay. The ministry assured that the concerned FRROs would assist with the necessary formalities, offering some relief to travellers caught in the uncertainty.

The advisory comes at a time when the regional situation remains volatile following recent US–Israel strikes on Iran, triggering airspace restrictions and widespread travel disruptions across parts of the Middle East.

At the same time, India has been actively advising its own citizens in the region to stay safe. The Embassy of India, Tel Aviv has urged Indian nationals to exercise “utmost caution,” avoid non-essential travel and remain close to designated shelters as the security situation evolves. A 24/7 emergency helpline has also been put in place to provide immediate assistance.

Indians in Iran have been advised to stay indoors as much as possible, while missions in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan have called on citizens to remain vigilant, follow local guidelines and stay in touch with their respective embassies.

With flights being rerouted, airspaces closing and travel plans changing at short notice, the MEA’s message is clear: stay informed, stay compliant with visa rules, and reach out to authorities for support during this uncertain period.
