Mumbai, April 17: The Government of Maharashtra has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹1.75 lakh crore with JW Global Group and Shyam Steel, marking a major push towards clean energy, advanced technology and manufacturing.
Of the total investment, ₹1.65 lakh crore will be led by JW Global Group and The Seed Consortium, focusing on sustainable infrastructure and next-generation technologies. A significant portion—₹1.13 lakh crore—has been earmarked for developing a large-scale artificial intelligence campus and data centre, expected to support India’s growing AI ecosystem and generate substantial employment.
The consortium will also invest in a 2 GW floating solar project with battery storage in Solapur, alongside a green hydrogen facility aimed at boosting clean fuel adoption. Additionally, advanced nuclear technology deployment is planned to ensure round-the-clock carbon-free power supply.
Separately, Shyam Steel will invest ₹10,000 crore to set up an integrated steel plant in Chandrapur, strengthening the state’s manufacturing base and generating indirect employment.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the agreements signal a new phase of industrialisation, supported by policy reforms and ease of doing business initiatives. The investments are expected to boost the state’s GDP, create jobs and reinforce Maharashtra’s position as a hub for sustainable and high-tech industries.
