New Delhi, April 22: Narendra Modi on Wednesday commemorated the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, reaffirming India’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism and its unwavering national resolve.
In a message, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the 26 victims of the हमला, extending condolences to their families and emphasising that the nation remains united in grief. He reiterated that India will not yield to terror threats and that such acts will not succeed in destabilising the country.
The attack, carried out in April 2025 by The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, targeted tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, marking one of the deadliest civilian attacks in recent years.
In response, the Indian Army launched Operation Mahadev, a large-scale counter-terror operation involving extensive searches across challenging Himalayan terrain. The operation led to the neutralisation of key perpetrators after a prolonged 93-day manhunt spanning over 300 sq km.
Subsequently, India undertook Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir through calibrated and non-escalatory measures.
The armed forces reiterated their commitment to safeguarding national security, warning that any acts against India would invite a decisive response. Official messaging underscored that justice has been served and that the country remains vigilant against future threats.
The anniversary serves as a reminder of India’s strategic doctrine combining firm military action with calibrated restraint, reinforcing its commitment to national security while maintaining regional stability.
