New Delhi, September 16th : Payworld, an intelligent electronic transaction platform has tied up with HCL Infosystems Ltd., India’s premier IT Services and Distribution Company, to make available a wide range of HCL distributed products to Payworld users across India. A pilot is being launched in pockets of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

Under the partnership, Payworld will also offer leading handset models to customers, mainly in the sub Rs 5,000 pricing. Payworld anticipates a good response for this product range as this will increase availability of mobile phones through neighborhood stores, saving time and travel for customers especially in smaller cities and rural areas.
The growth for such business is expected to accrue from more Payworld Retailers selling and doing assisted e-commerce transactions. “Our intention is to sell almost 100,000 phones per month through this channel”, says Dhabhai. On the logistics involved, says Dhabhai, the order booking and payment by retailer is implemented on line, with deliveries being accomplished from the designated delivery Hubs.
Payworld has made pioneering efforts to penetrate rural and semi urban areas with its assisted e commerce model where retailers can vary from a grocery store owner to a local pharmacist to enable domestic remittances, DTH recharge, mobile recharge,facilitate air and train ticket bookings. The company made 88 million transactions in FY 2014-15 aggregating to GMV of Rs 1580 crore. It has set a target of Rs 10,000 crore GMV exploiting its strong network of over 62,000 retail shops (projected to grow further) spanning 630 cities in 23 states across India.
