New Delhi, April 22 The government is trying to create conditions conducive for domestic manufacturers, both public and private, to play an active role in the domain of strategic electronics, Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh said on Tuesday.
“We are aiming at expediting decision-making, as well as simplifying contractual and financial provisions, to establish a level playing field for the Indian companies to compete with foreign firms,” Singh said while addressing the ‘Keysight Aerospace and Defence Symposium’ here.
“I believe there are huge opportunities for collaboration and creation of joint ventures in the defence electronics sector in India,” he said.
The minister added that aviation industry majors are keenly watching the Indian market and scouting for working with and outsourcing to the Indian companies as India is fast emerging as a centre for engineering and design services.
“I believe the time is right for catapulting India into the league of technologically-advanced nations and I invite you all to respond to the call and move along with us on this cause of Make in India,” he said.
