16th April 2020: Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today took part in a webinar with over 800 LPG cylinder delivery boys. Describing the LPG delivery boys as the frontline soldiers in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Shri Pradhan said that the whole nation acknowledges their contributions. Appreciating their sincerity, hard work, courage and dedication to the duty, he said that in such times, they are delivering upto 60 lakhs cylinders daily, sometimes even endangering their own lives. Shri Pradhan called upon them to take due precautions while discharging their duties. He said that by rising to the occasion, they have gained special respect from the society, and are getting blessing from the poor.
He appealed to the delivery boys to continue to go beyond duty as usual and educate the families where they go to deliver LPGs on Aarogya Setu app, social distancing, wearing home-made masks, following guidelines by AYUSH Ministry to improve immunity, digital payments and other measures to fight against the Covid19 pandemic. He particularly commended delivery boys who contributed their savings to contribute to PM-CARES Fund.
LPG delivery boys thanked the Minister for reaching out to them and shared their experiences of being on the line of duty in these challenging times. A LPG delivery boy shared how he and his colleagues contributed their savings to contribute to the PM-CARES Fund. Most of them thanked the Government for thinking about them and providing insurance for them, and also making provisions of ex-gratia payment.
