Shri Balraj Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC, India’s premier hydropower company delivered an address as Guest of Honour at Conference on “Power Sector Development – Modern Trends & Innovations at International Level” on 26th July 2018 at New Delhi. This prestigious event has been organized by the Committee for CIGRE-India, an affiliate of Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) and National Committee to the International Council on Large Electric System Committee for International Council on Large Electrical Systems (CIGRE)-India.
In his address, Shri Joshi presented an insight into NHPC’s role in the country’s development and stressed that NHPC regards these projects as ‘development vehicles’ for Nation building and are not merely energy providers. He further added that NHPC’s projects in the remote areas led to socio-economic upliftment of the local people residing in the vicinity of NHPC’s projects.
During the event Shri Joshi also inaugurated the NHPC pavilion showcasing NHPC’s activities in the field of hydropower development.

एनएचपीसी, भारत की अग्रणी जलविद्युत कंपनी और भारत सरकार की एक ‘मिनी रत्न’ श्रेणी-I उद्यम के अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक श्री बलराज जोशी ने दिनांक 26 जुलाई 2018 को ‘पावर सैक्टर डेवलपमेंट-मॉडर्न ट्रेंड अँड इनोवेशन अॅट इंटरनॅशनल लेवल’ सम्मेलन में संबोधित किया। यह सम्मेलन सेंट्रल बोर्ड ऑफ इरीगेशन एवं पावर (सीबीआईपी) की सहयोगी संस्था सीआईजीआरई – इंडिया द्वारा आयोजित किया गया था।
श्री जोशी ने अपने संबोधन में देश के विकास में एनएचपीसी की भूमिका का उल्लेख किया एवं उन्होनें इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि एनएचपीसी के पावर स्टेशन विद्युत उत्पादन के साथ साथ राष्ट्र के निर्माण हेतु ‘विकास के साधन’ के तौर पर विकसित किये गए हैं। आगे, उन्होंने कहा कि, दुर्गम क्षेत्रों में एनएचपीसी की परियोजनाएँ ने परियोजना परिसर के आसपास रहनेवाले स्थानीय लोगों के सामाजिक-आर्थिक उत्थान में महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका अदा की है।
इस अवसर पर, श्री जोशी ने जलविद्युत विकास के क्षेत्र में एनएचपीसी की गतिविधियों के प्रदर्शन को दर्शाने वाले पवेलियन का भी उद्घाटन किया।
