New Delhi 07.02.2021: In the intervening night of 06.02.21 & 07.02.21 at about 0215 hrs, fire broke out in the area adjacent to CISF Unit DMRC Okhla Barracks, approx 70 metres away from the boundary wall. The fire spread to nearby slum and scrap yard and flames also reached the CISF Campus. The CISF night sentry raised the alarm and immediately Delhi Fire Service and Senior officers of CISF was informed telephonically. As a precautionary measure Okhla barrack, Quarter guard and Dog Kennel was also evacuated.
Delhi Fire Services team with fire tenders along with PCR & Ambulance reached the spot and started dousing the fire. In the in the meantime, CISF personnel residing in the barracks, smartly made use of Okhla metro station fire point and assisted fire teams by sprinkling water on the fire from inside, thereby preventing any damage to CISF Camp. They also rescued animal /cows kept in the stable near the CISF camp. No damage occurred to CISF property due to timely action by vigilant CISF personnel.
The reason of fire and the loss of life and property in the outside area of the CISF Campus is yet to be ascertained by local administration/police.
