CISF detected three (03) gold bars weighing about 500 gm worth approximately INR 23 lakh at Imphal Airport

On 18.08.2021 at about 1407 hrs, during frisking of a passenger at Security Hold Area (SHA) of Imphal airport, Assistant Sub-Inspector Vikhram Sabal of CISF noticed the presence of medal in lower part of his body. On suspicion, the passenger was taken to a separate place in SHA for thorough search.

He was later identified as Mr Ragamath Ali A S/O Mr. Ameer R/o Ramanathapuram, Sundarapandiapattinam (T.N.), who was supposed to travel to Kolkata by IndiGo Airlines flight No.6E-6087 (STD 1530 hrs) and onward bound for Bengaluru by IndiGo Airlines flight No.6E-348 (STD 1830 hrs). On questioning, the passenger confessed that he was carrying gold bars concealed in body cavity (rectum).

Thereafter, three (03) gold bars weighing about 500 gm worth approximately INR 23 lakh wrapped in plastic tape were recovered from his possession. On further questioning, he could produce any valid document. Senior Officers of CISF and Customs Officials were informed.

On arrival of Customs Officials, the said passenger along with the recovered gold bars weighing about 500 gm worth approximately INR 23 lakh was handed over to them for further action in the matter.
