CISF detected high volume of foreign currency worth approximately INR 54.83 lakh at Hyderabad Airport

02foreign currencyOn 02.02.2021, at about 0130 hrs, on the basis of behaviour detection, CISF surveillance and intelligence staff of Hyderabad Airport noticed suspicious activities of two passengers while entering into the terminal building. On suspicion, both the passengers were diverted to the random checking point for thorough search. During x-ray screening of their bags, Asstt. Sub-Inspector Nazim Hussain of CISF noticed some suspicious image inside their bags. On physical checking of the bags, high volume of foreign currencies of different denomination worth approximately INR 29.57 lakh were found concealed in clothes kept inside their bags.

Immediately, the matter was informed to Senior Officer of CISF and Custom Officials. On further checking of their belongings, some more foreign currencies were recovered from the packets of eatable snacks.

Both the passengers were later identified as Mr. Md Ayub Habeeb, aged about 33 yrs, R/O Malakpet, Hyderabad and Mr. Ahmed Pasha, aged about 30 yrs, R/O Talab Katta, Hyderabad, bound for Dubai by flight No.EK-525 (STD 0335 hrs). In total, foreign currencies of various countries worth approximately INR 54.83 lakh was recovered from both the passengers (Rs.25.16 lakh from Mr. Md Ayub & Rs.29.67 lakh from Mr. Ahmed pasha). On enquiry, they could not produce any valid document for carrying such foreign currency.

Later, both the passengers along-with the recovered foreign currency worth approximately INR 54.83 lakh was handed over to Custom Officials for further action in the matter.
