CISF detected 1.47 Lakh Saudi Riyals worth approximately INR 28 lakh at IGI Airport, New Delhi

New Delhi, 30.12.2020: On 30.12.2020 at about 0100 hrs, on the basis of behaviour detection, CISF surveillance and Intelligence staff of IGI Airport noticed suspicious activities of a passenger  and  a visitor accompanying him at departure alighting area of Terminal-3, IGI Airport. On suspicion, the passenger and the visitor were kept under close watch. The message was passed to CISF personnel deployed in Security Hold Area (SHA) for intensive screening of said passenger and his hand bag.

During Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) through X-BIS machine in SHA of   Ter-3, some suspicious image was noticed in the baggage and the bag was physically checked by the CISF personnel. On checking, bundles of Saudi Riyal in the denomination of 500 was noticed  which were concealed in the false bottom of the handbag pasted in different layers of the false bottom.

The passenger was later identified as Mohammad Fared, Indian, bound for Dubai by Indigo flight 6E-23 (STD 0425 hrs). He also disclosed the name of visitor accompanying him as Mr. Asif.

The matter was informed to Custom Officials. On arrival of Custom officials the passenger and his belongings was taken to Custom office and on search  1,47,000 Saudi Riyals (total 294 Saudi Riyals in the denomination of 500 of  value approx INR 28 lakhs)  was recovered from different layers of his bag. The passenger along with detected currencies was handed over to Custom officials.  Mr. Asif,  the  visitor accompanying the said passenger was also intercepted by CISF surveillance and Intelligence staff from departure forecourt area and  the same was informed to Custom officials, who later, detained him and took him to Custom office for further action.
