CISF commemorated its Bravehearts at National Police Memorial (NPM), Chanakyapuri, New Delhi

New Delhi, 26.10.2021: To celebrate 75 years of the India’s Independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and to commemorate the martyrs of Police and CAPFs, a 10 days long commemorative event is being organized at National Police Memorial (NPM), Chanakyapuri, New Delhi from 22nd to 30th October, 2021 for paying tributes to the martyrs of Police and CAPFs and to felicitate their families at the National Police Memorial (NPM) at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

On 26.10.2021, CISF commemorated the supreme sacrifice made by its valiant bravehearts by organizing a day long grand ceremony at the National Police Memorial, Chanakyapuri and CISF HQrs, New Delhi. 126 martyrs of CISF who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, and 52 frontline Covid warriors who lost their lives in the line of duty during the Corona pandemic were commemorated on the occasion.

In the morning session, family members of the CISF martyrs, Sr. Officers and personnel of CISF paid homage to the martyrs by offering flower petals at the Central Sculpture, NPM, and the martyrs’ families also visited the ‘Wall of Valour’ where the names of all the martyrs of CAPF and police, who made supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation are engraved in stone.

The families were then given a tour of the Police Museum and were shown the short video films that were prepared by the CISF as a tribute to martyrs and on the diverse role of CISF on national security. Later the families of the Martyrs of CISF were felicitated by the Senior Officers.

In the afternoon session, Shri M. A. Ganapathy, DG, CISF felicitated the families of CISF Martyrs in a function organised at Lawn’s of CISF HQrs, New Delhi. In his address, Shri Ganapathy remembered the courage and valour of CISF Martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

In the evening session, Shri M. A. Ganapathy, DG, CISF visited NPM, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi and laid wreath at the Central Sculpture and paid tributes to the martyrs. Open air display of movies on freedom struggle, valour and sacrifice of CAPF personnel, and the invaluable contributions of CAPF and Police Bravehearts in the service of the nation were showcased. A retreat ceremony was also organized on the occasion and an attractive band display was performed by CISF’s band team. Senior Officers, personnel and families of CISF of Delhi-NCR based Units were present on the occasion.
