New Delhi, July 27: Air India on Monday announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Tourism to jointly promote India as a premier global tourism destination while strengthening the country’s position as an international aviation and transit hub. According to the airline, the agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for collaboration in tourism marketing, trade engagement, transit tourism and visitor experience enhancement. By combining Air India’s expanding global network with the government’s Incredible India campaign, the partnership aims to increase inbound tourism and enhance India’s visibility among international travellers.

Under the agreement, Air India and the Ministry of Tourism will launch co-branded global marketing campaigns across digital platforms, social media, inflight entertainment, branding and other consumer-facing channels. The collaboration will also explore opportunities to integrate Incredible India branding across various Air India touchpoints, creating greater awareness of India’s diverse tourism offerings. The initiative is designed to encourage international visitors to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage, historical monuments, natural landscapes, spiritual destinations and experiential tourism opportunities.

Commenting on the partnership, Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, said the airline has a unique responsibility to represent the country globally and serve as an ambassador for a “new India” that is confident, vibrant, welcoming and globally connected. He noted that as Air India continues to expand its international footprint across five continents, the airline is well positioned to showcase India’s tourism potential to millions of travellers worldwide. The partnership is expected to strengthen India’s brand image while supporting the government’s broader objective of increasing foreign tourist arrivals.

Air India currently serves 40 international destinations across North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, Africa and Asia, covering regions that account for nearly 95% of the world’s population. The airline said its new-generation aircraft, enhanced inflight experience, digital platforms and global commercial network will become powerful channels for promoting the Incredible India campaign. The collaboration is expected to enhance India’s competitiveness in the global tourism market while supporting economic growth through increased international travel, tourism investments and improved connectivity.

The partnership between Air India and the Ministry of Tourism marks a significant step towards positioning India as a leading global tourism destination.
