Visakhapatnam officials inspected the 32-kilometer path for the upcoming Simhachalam Giri Pradakshina walk. District Collector M. Abhishek Kishore and Police Commissioner Shankha Brata Bagchi walked along the route on Tuesday to check the plans. Thousands of people will walk the 32-kilometer loop on July 28. It’s a massive annual event, so the teams want to prevent any problems.
Mr. Kishore told the departments to set up clean water stations and medical tents. He also asked the team to bring mobile toilets. Workers must fix all the streetlights along the path before the event starts. The local government will deploy lifeguards on the beach because many walkers take a bath in the sea. The city will also build changing rooms for women near the water.
Police Commissioner Bagchi announced strict rules for local traffic. Officers will block all regular vehicles from entering the walk route. Only emergency ambulances can drive on these roads during the event. Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg shared the details of a new cleaning plan. Sweepers will clear the trash all day and night to keep the roads clean. The temple group will set up 50 lines for people to stand in and 100 stands for breaking coconuts. Organizers urge all walkers to avoid single-use plastics to protect the environment.
