New Delhi, July 15: Indian Railways has completed the redevelopment of Shamli Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh under the flagship Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with an investment of Rs 24.95 crore. The upgraded station is part of the nationwide initiative to modernise railway infrastructure and provide passengers with world-class amenities, improved accessibility and enhanced connectivity.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is one of Indian Railways’ major infrastructure programmes aimed at transforming railway stations into modern, passenger-centric transport hubs. The initiative focuses on improving station facilities, integrating nearby urban infrastructure and ensuring seamless connectivity for millions of passengers across the country.
As part of the redevelopment, the station building has been completely renovated, while a 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) has been constructed to facilitate safe and convenient movement across platforms. The station also features a new parking area, redesigned circulating area, upgraded platform shelters, improved platform surfaces, modern waiting rooms and new toilet blocks, significantly enhancing passenger comfort.
Special emphasis has been placed on universal accessibility. The station now offers comprehensive Divyang-friendly facilities, including entry ramps, tactile pathways, accessible toilets, water booths, designated parking spaces and barrier-free access. Additionally, two passenger lifts have been installed to assist senior citizens, Divyang passengers and travellers carrying luggage.
The redevelopment also improves connectivity between the station and surrounding areas through better road access and supporting infrastructure.
