CBSE Extends Class 12 Answer Sheet Verification and Re-Evaluation Deadline Till June 7

CBSE Class 12 students applying for answer sheet verification and re-evaluation online

New Delhi, June 06: The Central Board of Secondary Education has extended the deadline for Class 12 students applying for verification of marks and re-evaluation of answer sheets.

According to CBSE officials, the last date for submitting applications, which was originally scheduled to end on June 6, has now been extended until midnight on June 7, 2026.

The decision comes in response to technical issues faced by students and a significant increase in applications after the declaration of Class 12 board examination results.

Deadline Extended to Support Students

CBSE said the extension has been provided in the interest of students who encountered difficulties while accessing the online portal.

Several candidates reportedly faced technical challenges during the application process, prompting the board to provide additional time for submissions.

Officials noted that the extension would help ensure that all eligible students receive a fair opportunity to apply for post-result services.

Verification and Re-Evaluation Process Explained

The board’s verification and re-evaluation mechanism allows students to review the evaluation of their answer sheets if they believe there may have been an error.

The process involves multiple stages:

Step 1: Obtain Scanned Answer Sheets

Students must first apply for scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets.

Step 2: Apply for Verification

After reviewing the scanned copies, students can request verification of marks to ensure that all answers have been correctly assessed and marks properly totaled.

Step 3: Request Re-Evaluation

Students may then seek re-evaluation of specific questions if they believe answers were not appropriately marked.

CBSE said the system is designed to enhance transparency and build confidence in the examination process.

Increase in Applications This Year

The board has witnessed a significant rise in requests for verification and re-evaluation this year.

According to officials:

  • More than 70,000 applications have already been submitted.
  • Demand increased sharply after the declaration of results.
  • Technical concerns raised by students contributed to the surge.

The large number of applications highlights the importance of the post-result review mechanism for students seeking clarity regarding their scores.

Concerns Over Digital Evaluation

CBSE has expanded the use of the On-Screen Marking system to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors in the evaluation process.

However, some students reported issues such as:

  • Blurred scanned answer sheet copies
  • Missing or skipped markings
  • Difficulty reviewing evaluated responses

These concerns led to increased demand for verification and re-evaluation services.

The board is expected to review feedback and continue refining its digital evaluation framework.

Revised Fee Structure

CBSE has also revised the fee structure for post-result services to make the process more accessible.

Students are required to pay:

  • A prescribed fee for verification of marks.
  • A per-question fee for re-evaluation requests.

The board clarified that once re-evaluation is completed, the revised marks, if any, will be treated as final and binding.

No further appeals will be entertained after the completion of the re-evaluation process.

Helpline Activated for Students and Parents

To facilitate a smooth application process, CBSE has activated support mechanisms for students and parents.

The board’s helpline is available to assist with:

  • Application-related queries
  • Technical issues
  • Verification procedures
  • Re-evaluation requests

Officials have urged candidates to complete the process well before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute difficulties.

Re-Evaluation Results Expected by July

The outcomes of verification and re-evaluation requests are expected to be released by July 2026.

The results could prove crucial for students applying for:

  • Undergraduate admissions
  • Professional courses
  • Competitive examinations
  • Scholarship programmes

CBSE said the extension reflects its commitment to fairness, transparency, and student welfare.
