PM Modi to Meet Cyprus President Today, Key Talks on Agenda

New Delhi, May 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides in New Delhi on Friday, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity and regional affairs.

President Christodoulides arrived in the national capital on Thursday and was received at the airport by Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the visit builds on the momentum created by Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June 2025 and reflects the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral engagement.

During his stay in New Delhi, the Cypriot President will also meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honour.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to call on President Christodoulides ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House.

President Christodoulides described his State Visit to India as “very important”, stating that it represents a significant step in further strengthening the already strong ties between India and Cyprus.

Before arriving in New Delhi, Christodoulides visited Mumbai as part of his India tour and was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades, senior government officials and business leaders.

The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

During the Mumbai leg of the visit, President Christodoulides visited the National Stock Exchange (NSE), where he rang the opening bell alongside NSE Chairman Srinivas Injeti and Managing Director and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan.

According to NSE India, the visit also included discussions with exchange leadership on strengthening bilateral economic ties and exploring opportunities for deeper collaboration.
