Khargone Solar Plant a ‘National Achievement’, Says MP CM

Khargone, April 30: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the 60 MW Jalood Solar Power Plant in Khargone, positioning it as a landmark project in clean energy and citizen-led investment. Developed at a cost of Rs 271 crore under a public-private partnership model, the project is financed through Green Bonds, enabling direct public participation.

The initiative allows individuals to invest up to Rs 10 lakh via bonds offering around 8% annual returns over a 20-year period, with liquidity options for early exit. The plant will supply power to the Indore Municipal Corporation while contributing to emission reduction targets.

The Chief Minister highlighted the project’s financial viability, with cost recovery expected within a decade, and termed it a scalable model combining renewable energy generation with public financing. He also noted the state’s transition from power deficits to surplus availability, underlining broader progress in the energy sector.
