New Delhi, April 20: Narendra Modi and Lee Jae Myung held wide-ranging bilateral talks at Hyderabad House on Monday, focusing on expanding cooperation across key economic and strategic sectors.
The discussions covered trade, financial services, shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, energy, semiconductors, defence, and critical and emerging technologies, along with enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The meeting reviewed progress under the India–Republic of Korea Special Strategic Partnership and identified new avenues for collaboration.
Senior officials including S. Jaishankar and Vikram Misri were present during the talks.
Ahead of the meeting, President Lee participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative by planting a sapling, signalling a shared emphasis on sustainability.
Following the talks, both leaders witnessed the exchange of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) spanning trade and economy, shipbuilding and maritime cooperation, digital technologies, education, culture, and sports. The Ministry of External Affairs said these agreements are expected to enhance bilateral engagement and create new opportunities for industry and citizens in both countries.
Earlier in the day, President Lee, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat and received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan from Droupadi Murmu.
President Lee is on a three-day state visit to India, which the government has described as a significant milestone in advancing bilateral ties rooted in shared democratic values and expanding economic cooperation.
