WARM RECEPTION ACCORDED TO THE NLCILTEAM  RETURNING AFTER FLOOD RELIEF WORKS AT CHENNAI

CMD PERSONALLY GREETS THE TEAM

New Delhi, Dec 18: Chennai faced one of its worst crisis of flood due to incessant and heavy rain that caused inundation of many areas in the city in the aftermath of theMichaung cyclone last week. To supplement the efforts of Chennai Corporation to mitigate the situation, NLC India Limited had mobilised a team comprising of Senior officers, Employees and contract workers equipped with 16 specialisedhigh capacity de-watering pumps which are used in NLC lignite Mines.

The NLCIL team worked in tandem with the Chennai Corporation to remove stagnated water from the waterlogged areas of many areas of Chennai including Ambattur, Velacheri, Thiruverkadu, Nazarathpet and Valasaravakkam. Totally about 51,20,000 cubic feet of water was pumped out utilizing NLCIL’s Mining pumps. After the completion of the week-long strenuous work, the NLCIL team returned to Neyveli this morning.

A warm reception was accorded to the team of NLCIL Officers, Employees and workers. NLCIL CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, along with Functional Directors, K. Mohan Reddy, Samir Swarup and M. Venkatachalam, personally received and honoured the team at NLCIL Arch Gate early this morning. While speaking on the occasion, Prasana Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, complimenting the efforts of the team comprising of nearly 70 members, said that he was proud that NLCIL rose to the occasion by acting swiftly.

NLCIL’s efforts were also commended by the Hon’ble Minister for Coal, Secretary/Coal and Chief Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu. He also expressed his desire that NLCIL should continue such noble efforts that benefit the society during the times of crisis.
