Sh. AshutoshGangal, General Manager Northern Railwayheld a review meeting with the departmental heads of Northern Railway and DRMs. The focus of the meeting was on safety on tracks and yards, review of winter arrangements during ongoing foggy weather,Business Development and Freight loading.
Gangal, has informed that, Northern Railway has saved Rs 209.21 Crore on fuel by using HOG (Head On Generation) Locomotives during the period of April-November,2022. The previous year during the same period the savings on fuel was Rs.137.95 Cr.
He said that, Northern Railway always concerns about the safety of passengers and take up all measures to eliminate the accidents on tracks and within yards. He reviewed winter arrangements for ongoing foggy weather and instructed for strict monitoring of tracks to detect rail fracture and rail weld fractures. He said that Fog Signals Detonators, should be made available at all concerned direct related with train operations, all warning boards should be repainted with reflective paint to enhance visibility during night in foggy weather. He reviewed the work done over the zone in improving the maintenance of track, welds and renewal of tracks where ever required.
He instructed the divisions on conducting drives to enhance the safety during foggy weather and counsel the staff whenever necessary and required.
He stressed upon the minimizing the human failure in train operation. He also instructed the department heads and DRMs,to maintain the punctuality. The pace for freight loading should also be maintain with consistency and new vistas should be explored to enhancebusiness of railway.
The GM took stock of the outreach of the Business Development Units. He also instructed that BDUs should work proactively to create an environment of trust, support and confidence amongst the customers. He added that the initiatives and concessions offered by the Railways should reach the clients. He also informed that, loading of food grains & other items have steadily increased with every passing month.
