Gurugram, Feb 04 The 18th Inter-CPSU Cricket Tournament, being organized by POWERGRID NRTS-I under the aegis of Power Sports Control Board, commenced on February 4, 2019 at TERI Grounds, Gurugram. The Tournament was inaugurated by Sh. H. K. Mallick, Executive Director, POWERGRID NRTS-I in the presence of the senior officials of Ministry of Power and various Power CPSUs. The competition began with the March Past of the various teams participating in the tournament and hosting of the flag of Power Sports Control Board (PSCB).
In his inaugural address, the Executive Director said that cricket is a game of passion and adventure. In this game, it is difficult to predict the next aspect of the match as the team which has an upper hand in the previous over may appear lagging behind in next over. This uncertainty doubles the thrill of this game and makes people crazy about it. Encouraging the teams of the tournament, he said that cricket is a game of team spirit and mutual coordination. The team work which helps in winning this game also helps us to move forward in every field of life and face professional challenges.
He hoped that all the teams will take part in this tournament with their passion and will play their matches keeping team spirit on top. In this competition, including the team of Ministry of Power eleven teams of POWERGRID, NHPC, REC, PFC, DVC, POSCO, SJVN, BBMB, CEA and THDC are participating. Starting on February 4, the competition will last till February 9, 2019.
During this, there will be league matches from 4th to 7th February in which all the teams will clash with each other. The semi-finals will be played on February 8 and the final of this competition will be played on February 9. In the inaugural two league matches first was played between POWERGRID and PFC, in which POWERGRID defeated PFC by a huge margin of 112 runs, while in the second match, BBMB Team beat the POSCO Team by six wickets.
