1000 CONTRACT WORKERS OF NLCIL TO BE MADE MEMBERS OF INDCOSERVE


Neyveli, August 15 Rakesh Kumar, CMD (Additional Charge) in his Independencce Day speech announced that 1000 Contract Workmen working under various contractors in NLCIL will be made members of Industrial Co-operative Service (INDCOSERVE) Society of Tamil Nadu, which has been providing manpower to NLCIL.

During his address, he recalled the sufferings, struggles and sacrifices of the father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhiji and other National Leaders as well as all freedom fighters. He said that ‘Make in India’ is transforming India into a hub for design; innovation and manufacturing. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan focuses on making India a clean and an open defecation free Nation; while ‘Skill India’ initiative, aims to provide the Indian workforce with the required skill sets and knowledge to enable them to contribute substantially, towards the economic growth of India.

Start up India initiative will lead the way to make India, a Nation of job creators, instead of job seekers. The ‘24×7 Power for all’, aims to provide 24×7 Power Supply across the country by 2019. NLCIL has entered into Power Trading Market as an Independent Accredited Power Traders in the country with Category-I License obtained from the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). With this, NLCIL can now trade its own un-requistioned surplus (URS) power as well as procure and trade power from other Power Generating Companies bilaterally in power market, he added.

He mentioned that NLCIL has formulated an ambitious corporate plan by enhancing its mining capacity to 93.15 MTPA and power generation to 21,011 MW by 2025 with mix of energy portfolio of lignite, coal and renewable. He said that NLCIL has added 236 MW to the already available capacity of 55 MW in the renewable energy sector during  2017-18.

Further during the above period all the Mines of NLCIL had produced 251.53 Lakh Tonnes of  Lignite and generated 20748.40 Million Units of Power. During the Financial Year 2017-18. Sales Turnover stood at Rs.8,496.20 Cr. and Profit Before Tax (PBT) and Profit After Tax (PAT) were Rs.2,689.70 Cr. & Rs.1848.78 Cr. respectively. NLCIL has registered a growth of 23.3% in EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortization) in 2017-18.

He also mentioned that two units of 500 MW Neyveli New Thermal Power Project at Neyveli is at an advanced stage of completion. Three units each of  660 MW Coal based Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (GTPP) of Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd., (NUPPL) is progressing well and its financial closure has been achieved.

He informed that Talabira Coal Mines Projects in Odisha has gathered momentum and Pachwara Coal Mine Project in Jharkhand is also progressing. With the commencement of Project activities in these two States, NLCIL Pan India presence is further strengthened. With the progress of tendering activities, TPS-II 2nd Expansion Project has also been commenced.

In the Solar front, NLCIL ,has recently added 300 MW, which was dedicated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal Shri Piyush Goyal on 14-06-2018. Further capacity addition of 909 MW is under implementation  in different places of southern districts of Tamil Nadu for TANGEDCO.

He mentioned that NLCIL has been continuously paying more attention in fulfilling its obligations towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with sustainable and inclusive development initiatives like promoting health, education, skill development, women empowerment and social infrastructure development, sanitary facilities, drinking water, irrigation etc., in villages surrounding our  operational areas at Neyveli, Thoothukudi, Barsingsar, Ghatammpur and Talabira. Environment Friendly modern gas Crematorium (Shantivanam) has been established in Neyveli Township for the benefit of the society at large.

He congratulated everyone who has contributed in terms of Shram Daan done by joining together in the cleanliness drive of the Townships in Neyveli, Thoothukudi and Barsingsar. A. Vikraman, Director/HR welcome the gathering.   NLCIL’s Senior officials, Executives, Supervisors, employees, workers representatives of Unions and Associations, Reporters from Press and Media and Neyveli residents were present at the Bharathi Stadium to witness the celebrations.  Around, 4000 School children presented colourful cultural programme which was appreciated by one and all.

Awards & Certificates were sresented tto Best Maintained Unit/Office under “Swachh Bharat Mission” and  to the Blocks in the Neyveli Township for maintaining Cleanliness in roadside by involving Employees, Residents, Volunteers and Traders of Neyveli Township. To mark the occasion, the members of the Neyveli Ladies Club distributed fruits to the inpatients of NLCIL General Hospital and wish them speedy recovery.

Koottu Vazhipadu and Samapandhi Bhojanam were organized in  Murrugan Temple, Block-28, Neyveli Group of Temples.  Certificates were distributed to the students of Neyveli Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha at Lignite Hall, Block-11, Neyveli in a function held in the evening.
