LPG Supply Stable as Record 50.8 Lakh Cylinders Delivered in a Day

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri explains reduction in subsidised LPG cylinder refills under Ujjwala Yojana

New Delhi, April 30: India’s cooking gas supply continues to remain stable despite global supply chain disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict, with over 50.8 lakh domestic LPG cylinders delivered in a single day, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said. No shortages or “dry-outs” have been reported across retail distributorships, indicating steady supply conditions nationwide.

Digital adoption in LPG services has surged, with online bookings reaching 99% and authentication-based deliveries rising to 94%, aimed at curbing diversion. Demand indicators also remain strong, with auto LPG sales by public sector oil companies doubling in April compared to earlier months, while commercial LPG sales have crossed 1.84 lakh metric tonnes so far.

The government has intensified enforcement actions to prevent hoarding and black marketing, conducting over 2,200 raids and penalising multiple distributors. Meanwhile, adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are being maintained, supported by high refinery output and increased domestic LPG production.

Authorities have urged consumers to avoid panic buying and rely on official communication, assuring uninterrupted availability of fuel and cooking gas across the country.
