New Delhi, February 24, 2026: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval of key infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating economic growth.
The Cabinet cleared the extension of Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 from GIFT City to Shahpur at a cost of ₹1,067 crore, promising affordable and high-speed urban connectivity.
It also approved four railway multi-tracking projects worth ₹9,072 crore, including the doubling of the Gondia–Jabalpur line and additional tracks on key routes in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar to boost industry and tourism.
A new Integrated Terminal Building at Srinagar Airport, to be developed at ₹1,667 crore, will enhance passenger capacity and strengthen trade and employment in Kashmir.
Additionally, the decision to raise the investment limit of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to ₹7,500 crore is expected to accelerate India’s renewable energy expansion.
