New Delhi, July 27: Indian deep-tech company Dreamfly Innovations has announced plans to establish a 40,000 sq. ft. aviation battery manufacturing facility in North Bengaluru, marking a major step towards strengthening India’s drone manufacturing ecosystem and advancing the government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The upcoming facility will have an initial annual production capacity of 100 MWh, which can be expanded to 200 MWh, making it one of the country’s largest dedicated aviation battery manufacturing units for the drone industry. The investment is expected to enhance domestic production of advanced battery systems and reduce dependence on imported aviation batteries.
The new manufacturing unit will produce high-performance aviation batteries for a wide range of applications, including defence operations, surveillance, infrastructure inspection, agricultural spraying, logistics services, and next-generation urban air mobility platforms such as air taxis. As India’s drone sector continues to expand rapidly, demand for reliable, lightweight and high-energy-density batteries is increasing. By manufacturing these advanced power solutions domestically, Dreamfly aims to improve the performance, safety, endurance and reliability of unmanned aerial systems while supporting the growth of indigenous drone manufacturers.
According to the company, its battery products already contain 77% indigenous content, reflecting its commitment to developing locally designed and manufactured technologies. The expansion aligns with national initiatives such as the Kisan Drone Policy, which promotes the use of drones in agriculture for precision farming, crop monitoring and pesticide spraying. By increasing local value addition and strengthening the domestic supply chain, the company expects to contribute significantly to India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for drone technology and advanced aviation manufacturing.
