President Murmu and PM Modi to Attend Rairangpur Event on June 20 as BJP Marks Two Years in Odisha

BJP Marks Two Years in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 2 President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to attend a special programme in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district, on June 20 to mark the completion of two years of the BJP-led government in Odisha, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed on Tuesday.

The confirmation followed a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan to finalise arrangements for the event. Officials were directed to ensure adequate security, organise necessary facilities for members of the public, and provide sufficient parking at the venue.

With both the President and the Prime Minister expected to participate, the Chief Minister emphasised the need for the programme to be organised in a smooth and efficient manner and asked officials to give special attention to all related arrangements.

CM Majhi, who had extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent visit to New Delhi, has also instructed that the celebrations marking the state government’s second year in office be observed in a low-key manner in view of the prevailing situation arising from the conflict in West Asia.

The celebrations should be simple and subdued,” the Chief Minister directed, urging officials to place greater emphasis on highlighting the government’s achievements over the past two years rather than staging large-scale events.

The BJP formed the state government for the first time on June 12, 2024, winning an absolute majority in the Assembly elections and ending the Biju Janata Dal’s 24-year rule. The June 20 programme in Rairangpur will be the principal event to commemorate that milestone, with state authorities focusing on logistics, security and public access.

Preparations are continuing under the supervision of the Chief Minister’s office, which said arrangements will balance the need for a dignified official observance with sensitivities arising from the international situation.
