New Delhi 28 July 2021: Lok Sabha Secretariat organized an Awareness Session on World Hepatitis Day in Parliament House Complex, today. Vice President of India and Chairman Rajya Sabha, M. Venkaiah Naidu; Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla; Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mansukh L. Mandaviya; Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Harivansh and Lt. Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena graced the occasion.
Members of Parliament and other dignitaries attended the Awareness session.
On this occasion, speaking on India’s commitment to eliminate Hepatitis by 2030, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that elimination of Hepatitis should be a people’s movement. OBSERVING THAT Awareness is key to fight against Hepatitis, Birla called upon stakeholders to work purposively and proactively to give a tough fight to this deadly disease.
Speaking on the role of public representatives from Panchayats to Parliament, Birla said that they should reach out to people and educate them about this disease. Educating people will eliminate their ignorance about Hepatitis, Birla highlighted. The Speaker appealed the public representatives to create awareness among people about Hepatitis and its preventive measures. He further added that such awareness campaign should be done in the local language so that people can easily understand the message.
Appreciating the role of Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in sensitization and credible strategy in the fight against this disease, Birla said that their stellar work in this direction need to be emulated by all those who are concerned with the domain of public health.
An awareness booklet on the causes, symptoms and preventive measures for combating Hepatitis was released on this occasion.
Vice President Venkaiah Nadu administered an oath for elimination of Hepatitis to Members of Parliament and other attendees.
Earlier, Birla inaugurated Liver Health Check up Camp for Members of Parliament in Parliament House Complex.
The seminar was organised by the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE) and Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi.
नई दिल्ली 28 जुलाई 2021: लोकसभा सचिवालय ने आज संसद भवन परिसर में विश्व हेपेटाइटिस दिवस पर जागरूकता सत्र का आयोजन किया। भारत के उपराष्ट्रपति और राज्य सभा के सभापति, श्री एम. वेंकैया नायडू; लोकसभा अध्यक्ष, श्री ओम बिरला; केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण और रसायन और उर्वरक मंत्री, श्री मनसुख एल. मंडाविया; राज्य सभा के उपसभापति श्री हरिवंश और दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल श्री विनय कुमार सक्सेना इस अवसर पर उपस्थित थे।
जागरूकता सत्र में संसद सदस्यों और अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्तियों ने भाग लिया।
इस अवसर पर, 2030 तक हेपेटाइटिस को खत्म करने की भारत की प्रतिबद्धता पर बोलते हुए, लोकसभा अध्यक्ष श्री ओम बिरला ने कहा कि हेपेटाइटिस का उन्मूलन एक जन आंदोलन होना चाहिए। यह विचार व्यक्त करते हुए कि हेपेटाइटिस के खिलाफ लड़ने के लिए जागरूकता महत्वपूर्ण है, श्री बिरला ने हितधारकों से इस घातक बीमारी से लड़ने के लिए एक मिशन के तहत सक्रिय रूप से काम करने का आह्वान किया।
पंचायत से लेकर संसद तक लोकतांत्रिक संस्थाओं के जनप्रतिनिधियों की भूमिका पर बोलते हुए श्री बिरला ने कहा कि उनको हर स्तर पर लोगों तक पहुंचना चाहिए और उन्हें इस बीमारी के बारे में शिक्षित करना चाहिए। उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि लोगों को शिक्षित करने से हेपेटाइटिस के बारे में उनकी अज्ञानता समाप्त हो जाएगी । श्री बिरला ने जनप्रतिनिधियों से हेपेटाइटिस और इससे बचाव के उपायों के बारे में लोगों के बीच जागरूकता पैदा करने की अपील की। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि इस तरह का जागरूकता अभियान स्थानीय भाषा में किया जाना चाहिए ताकि लोग संदेश को आसानी से समझ सकें।
इस बीमारी के खिलाफ लड़ाई के बारे में संवेदीकरण और विश्वसनीय रणनीति में लीवर और पित्त विज्ञान संस्थान (आईएलबीएस) की भूमिका की सराहना करते हुए, श्री बिरला ने कहा कि इस दिशा में उनके उत्कृष्ट कार्यों का अनुकरण करने की जरूरत है।
इस अवसर पर हेपेटाइटिस से निपटने के कारणों, लक्षणों और निवारक उपायों पर एक पुस्तिका का विमोचन किया गया।
उपराष्ट्रपति श्री वेंकैया नायडू ने संसद के सदस्यों और अन्य उपस्थित लोगों को हेपेटाइटिस के उन्मूलन के लिए शपथ दिलाई।
इससे पूर्व श्री बिरला ने संसद भवन परिसर में सांसदों के लिए लीवर स्वास्थ्य जांच शिविर का उद्घाटन किया।
संगोष्ठी का आयोजन संसदीय अनुसंधान और प्रशिक्षण संस्थान लोकतंत्र (PRIDE) और लीवर और पित्त विज्ञान संस्थान (ILBS), नई दिल्ली द्वारा किया गया था।
