V.THANGAPANDIAN, TAKES CHARGE AS DIRECTOR (POWER) OF NLC

03nlc_director_powerV.Thangapandian, Former  Group General Manager NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India,  assumed office as Director  Power  of  NLC on 31st August 2015.

V.Thangapandian, a Mechanical Engineer from Tirunalveli District of Tamilnadu graduated from Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology. Karaikudi under  Madurai Kamaraj University in July 1981. He joined as VIth  Batch Executive Trainee in NTPC. He  has worked in various capacities and had 34 years of wide-ranging experience in the areas of Erection, Commissioning and Operation &Maintenance of Power plants and he  has held several Key positions during the tenure of his service in NTPC.  He has worked in NTPC’s Ramagundam Project , Vindyachal &  Mouda Super Thermal Power projects (which is the largest Power Plant)  where he closely associated with the Construction, Commissioning ,Operation  &Maintenance activities.   He has also successfully commissioned 2X500 MW units NTPC-Mouda in the capacity as Head of the Project.

All along he has been working as Head of O&M Department at NTPC-Vindhyachal,he has rich experience in the  Managing Operations & Maintenance of largest power stations of the country .

During his tenure, as Head of the project at NTPC-Mouda (Nagpur) he has rich experience and exposure of entire life cycle from concept to commissioning of Green Field project and he was responsible for Planning &Erection activities of 2X500 MW units now under Commercial operation and 2×660 MW units under construction. As Head of the project he has played a pivotal role in resolving the issues related to Land acquisition, local issues of Project Affected Persons (PAPs), Rehabilitation &Resettlement activities.

He has travelled abroad to get hands on Combustion Simulation  at Japan and another on Strategy for Business Development at Wharton ,United States. His 34 years experience in Power Industry especially in the field of Commissioning, Ercetion and O&M in higher capacity Power Generating units will help NLC to go in a long way, which is planning to expand its projects  with 660 MW units in all parts of the country.
