Andrew W K Langstieh, the Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) while responding to the request of the Ramakrishna Mission for financial support to run two Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) centers – a project for holistic development of underprivileged children living in unhygienic condition of slums, streets and remote villages, one each in Bankura district of West Bengal and another in Ranchi district of Jharkhand has handed over a cheque for an amount of rupees 11,66,000/- on 20th august at DVC Towers, Kolkata.
DVC also donated an amount of rupees five lakh to Ramakrishna Mission as an aid to provide relief to flood affected persons in West Bengal. Garments (3,000 nos.) stitched by the rural women youths during training in DVC’s CSR Sewing Training Centers were also handed over to the Ramakrishna Mission for the said noble cause.
